Help Removing Bumper Trim for License Plate Holder (archive)

When I purchased my car, it had a trim piece on the front bumber with no provision for mounting a license plate. My temporary registration expires in a few weeks and I need to mount the license plate holder that I purchased from the dealer.

I'm not sure how to take it off off the old trim piece. Can someone help here? I've seen a few posts in the archive about drilling or punching out the rivits to remove the license plate holder in order to install the non-license plate trim, but not the other way around. I see no rivits, holes or screws of any juband I don't want to break anything.

BTW, I'm quite pleased with my selection of personalized plates. I've got "BMW V12" on my older 750 and "V12 BMW" on my new one.
