For your purpose, you might want to seek out independent shops instead, where you're more likely to find real enthusiasts. Perhaps look into VAC Motorsport that Simeon used for his 'Benz-Killer'. Around DC you have a number of small shops, such as Autothority in Fairfax, VA.

In the course of dealing with dealer service shops, I've found an occasional shop where the service folks are truly enthusiasts, who encourage perormance-related discussion and repairs. Most, however, tend to discourage any such fine tuning, as long as the car is performing "within spec". Does anyone know of a dealer in the Mid-Atlantic region (Philly to DC) that would qualify as Performance Oriented, or even more specifically, a service technician who fits the bill. My 740i Sport would appreciate meeting such a person.
