TV - Video in Motion Question (archive)

I'm still deciding on purchasing a TV upgrade, either BMW parts or from www.nav-tv.com. (Thank to all of you that responded a few weeks ago to my questions.) I'm still open to comments and recommendations.

See the link below for the "video in motion" "hack". Does anyone know if this has to be reset 1) each time the car is turned on, 2) only if the battery is disconnected or 3) never/not under normal circumstances.

I've read the the video in motion hack does not work on cars built after a certain date, I believe 2000. Does anyone know if this is "hard coded" into the car or the TV module? In other words, if I purchase a module now and install it into my '98 vehicle, will the modification work because the car is prior to 2000 or not work because the tv module is newer than 2000?
