I've also had an ongoing problem where I try to start the car and the starter engages, just starts to turn the motor over, and then stops. I have to turn the ignition off and take the key out to try again. (the 2001 has a feature where you only need to engage the starter and the car keeps it engaged until the car starts, not sure if the earlier years have this). Always turns over just fine after that. This has happened more than a dozen times. In addition, at least 4 or 5 times when I try to start the car, the engine will turn over without starting. It will crank until I turn the ignition off. One time I let it run almost 39 seconds. Don't want it to run too long, might burn up the starter. The dealer has replaced the ignition switch, the instrument cluster, and the ECU. I suspect the alarm flashing and the ignition problems are related. Dealer says there are no more components to replace, (maybe wiring issue, but I hope not as they are impossible to diagnose).
Anyone else have these other problems? Anyone know what year the auto starter feature debuted?...joe
