The swap is easy and a far cry from $10k. Contact 'our man' John at Bekkers Import (www.bekkers.com - john@bekkers.com). I believe he charges something like $12-1300 for the complete kit (OEM, no less), and you can replace them yourself. It's easy. There should be instructions with the kit for a simple reprograming of the LCM to account for the different load.

It continues to amaze me what kind of bullsh*t the dealers tell their customers. Beyond comprehension....

i am considering upgrading to xenon headlights in my '96 740iL. this was a factory option that year but unfortunately my '96 missed out... has anyone tried doing this or actually done it? my bmw dealer told me that it would cost 10K to do this correctly because so many electronics need to be upgraded as well, but i'm skeptical. i checked the archives but couldn't find a definitive answer. thanks...
