CPT 6000 Upgrade to CPT7/8000? (archive)

Has anyone upgraded the CPT6000 to one of the dual mode phones in a E38 without the I-Bus? My 1997 750il does not have the I-Bus, but the dealer is telling me they can upgrade to the CPT7000 or CPT8000 with out any problems by adding a new harness kit and rewiring for the I-Bus. I was wondering if anyone has performed this upgrade successfully?
