Consider yourself very fortunate to have a decent warranty and have your dealer replace it!

It is a very simple swap-out - tech. could do it in the parking lot in less than 5 mins.

I posted comments 3 or 4 days ago on this subject.

Put this in your dealer's lap.

New 2001 740iS(owned approx. 8 months)
7000+ miles
Have previously repaced
1. Rear Cup holder
2.16:9 screen unit(faulty "select" button) in audio mode
Sometimes u get info on the screen...sometimes not;no radio station info etc....

Now the Max a/c button won't work......

is it just me ? or are BMW electronics just a bit unreliable?.........I did not expect this lack of quality in a car that costs this much......and that is perceived as such a quality automobile.....
I'm sorry but I just need to bitch about this....Thanks
