Mike-

Thanks for the quick response. It just helps knowing that I am not losing my mind in regards to the poor audio system. I have a 2002 Lexus SC 430 with a Mark Levinson system, so I have been a little spoiled in the sound area.

You car rocks! Looks like I have my work cut out for me to catch up to the rest of you!

by installing enclosed subwoofers in the trunk with amplification using the high level (speaker) outputs from the factory subs. The shallow "Premium" sound you are hearing is normal but can be DSP tweaked and somewhat improved.

The factory system consists of:
4 - 5.25" woofers enclosed on rear shelf.
4 - 5.25" woofers in each door (fronts are 2-way).
4 - 1.0+" tweeters in each door.
2 - ????? mid-ranges in front door.

Take a look at my car and others on cardomain below for some ideas. You can also try searching here for more info since this question comes up every other day, at least. ;) Good luck.

Mike D.
