Message: Reminds me of one that got away...

One afternoon in early spring sometime in the late '80's I was driving my very nice, freshly repainted silver X1/9 around the east end of Long Island when I spotted a 1600gt sitting in the back of a used car dealer's lot. It needed help, but was all there, straight, and allegedly ran. The owner of the place came out and after we had been chatting for a few minutes, he offered a straight swap: the 1600GT for the X1/9. Not knowing exactly how rare the little coupe was and thoroughly enjoying my X1/9, I declined. Ah well...I guess he didn't know what it was, either!

True story!
