encased in metal and usually aren't the problem. The upper or 'thrust arm bushings' are the ones that usually go bad as they are a 'floating triangle' surrounded by rubber with open spaces, exposed to engine heat, leaking fluids, etc. Pep Boys will loan you the suspension tools FREE. Just leave a deposit with your credit card.
