Greetings all,
I am in the process of resurrecting the AC in my 85 524td. The system seems to be functioning, save for one small detail: no cold air. The mechanicals all seem to be in order: compressor is working as it should; condenser fan is blowing normally; switch is functioning. System pressures are normal and adequately regulated by the compressor switching on and off.
My reigning theory thus far is that the there is a block in the system somewhere. I did replace the receiver/dryer before recharging. I did notice some schmeg in the old unit, but that is not entirely abnormal given the it also acts a filter for the system. I didn't do any other R&R on the system because I wanted to see what merely charging it would yeild.
Now my question: where are the filters in the system. I have read that there are two filters: one just before the compressor and one just before the evaporator (as the system flows).
I've got a little one and am really considering pulling the whole system apart and doing it right.
