Message: I don't know about OE electric locks but I installed a JC Whitney remote control power door lock system.

I cleaned and lubricated the hell out of the lock mechanism and there still is tremendous friction for the solenoids to overcome. Sometimes the unlock button has to be pushed twice.

I also had to drill large holes in the doors and jambs for the wiring. Also soldered a 1.5 inch wire to the antenna on the interior of the remote so it hangs outside the case; it improves the range to maybe 50 ft.

I have detailed installation notes on my blog.

I'm not sure I'd recommend it. The Mrs. wanted it...
