MKIII Draining Battery (567 views) (869 thread views)
Message: I just purchased a late build e38. I after being gone for six days, my battery was dead. I recharged the battery and did a current test (pulled fuses) and on the second fuse pulled, my current draw went form 500mA to 30mA. It was fuse #69, 30A, radio and navigation.

Looking at the dealer records, I looked up the warranty codes, It seems to have been two warranty codes for battery problems, and now it has an aftermarket battery. so I can assume it is on its fourth battery in 2-3 years. Someone also installed a Carquest trickle charger. It also looked like a battery exploded in the battery tray.

I pulled the MKIII nav unit first and the current dropped to under 100ma. It seems to be the battery drainer..I thought it would have been the DSP amp or the unused cpt8000 set-up. Has anybody else had MKIII batery drain issues?

I still have 5 months under CPO, which I think will not cover this. Anybody else had a similar warranty claim?

Thanks,
