Crankshaft position sensor. (110 views) 
Message: Turns out the culprit was the crankshaft position sensor, located on the bottom of the bellhousing, that came with the replacement transmission. It was cracked, which I didn't notice, and not working. I had the transmission shiped in to get a used one with low miles, and it is likely the damage occured in transit. Just thought I would let anyone interested know the source of the problem.
