I am planning to purchase a 2001 740iL. I am very picky about what I want and I couldn't find a single one in entire USA (as far as the vehicles listed on cars.com and autotrader.com). Finally I found this one and the only thing that it doesn't have is the chrome trim (yeah, I know, people want to change from chrome to shadwoline and I am the other way around). Talking to my local BMW dealer in Austin, they said that it would require changing the entire moulding which would cost me $1500 just for parts. Is that a correct statement? Can I not simply chage the trim to chrome. I am talking about the trim in the bumper only and not the windows.
Any help would be appreciated. I see the instructions on how to change the trim in a link on Dave's page (e38.org). So, it won't be that hard to change it myself. But first I want to make sure that it's even possible without changing the moulding.
