| Message: | Here's one of your recent posts. Sorry if I was giving too much direction. I was thinking that might be the case!! "had these exact symtoms on my '97 528, and f***ed around a lot with the cooling system (including taking it to a mechanic who couldn't figure it out) until arriving at the conclusion that there was air in the system that allowed the cylinder head temperature sensor to be intermittently exposed to hot gasses, which caused the guage to spike, and then return to normal when more coolant was pumped due to higher revs at the coolant pump. Now, whenever I have a cooling system problem, I find and fix the leak, and then religiously follow the Jim Cash method for topping and bleeding, the most important part of which is to top off the coolant only when the car is COLD. The oddball symtoms have not recurred in the past 18 months. Thats my theory." Rajaie 528i 5sp 06/00 | ||||
