I have a 99 540iT and am not a big fan of the Steptronic tranny in there. Would love to have a 6-speed 540, but I like having the touring around for times when I need to lug stuff from Home Depot, IKEA, etc.

Anyway, was talking to my mechanic and he said that we can very easily do a 6-speed swap from a 540. So the question is, does anybody have any leads on an wrecked 540i that I could get a tranny from.

Any leads would be helpful. Also, has anybody here done such a swap? Would love to know if this was done before.
