| Message: | | Hi, new member looking for any help . . I have a 2001 530iA that has both the Service Engine Soon and transmission light on. Last week, I got in the car and it had a very hard time starting. The two aforementioned lights went on, and the transmission feels like it's shifting at the wrong rpm. The engine will rev high until it finally shifts into the correct gear. Also the engine runs rough during the first minute or two after startup. At first, it would take a number of tries before the engine would even start, and would start easier when cold.
Stored trouble codes: 0339- crankshaft position sensor A circuit intermittent, and 0727- engine speed input circuit no signal. I replaced the crankshaft sensor, as well as both the intake & exhaust camshaft sensors. I checked the fuse for these, located inside the DME box, and it was fine. The wiring harnesses show no signs of damage. But none of this has helped. It's now a little easier to start, but still runs rough, and the tranny is still not functioning properly.
What's more, I tried disconnecting the harness to the crankshaft sensor just to see what would happen. The car started . . I thought it wasn't supposed to do that? Any insight or help would be greatly appreciated!
