| Message: | I also got a call from "alan" about my 65 belair, which I listed in the local AUTO TRADER. My issue isn't so much with these guys as they appear to be just another online advertising site which has a pro-active client seeking system (although I don't agree with this type of telemarketing it is not a scam or illegal and if you look at that BBB link you can see that most of the complaints were rectified) I think what people should really ask is whether or not the AUTO TRADER sells our information to these people as potential customers, or if they just do a lot of ad surfing. If you actually read the previous post 85% of them claim they had recently posted an ad with AUTO TRADER or a local newspaper and BAM the next day they get the same call all of us did. Now I'm no rocket surgeon but I highly doubt that these guys have the man power or work ethic to search every news paper and auto trader from the east coast to the west coast of both Canada and the US to find these people to call. I have a suspicion that the companies we list with compile a list of potential customers for these companies, and then sell them, to them. I for one will think twice before listing an ad with Auto trader or these purported "free" auto listing websites again. just my 2 cents. Evan in Nova Scotia (Canada) | ||||
