Another dead M3 engine - BMW M3 (E46 M3) Message Board & Forum

Welp, something is terribly wrong. 13,800 miles and a crazy clanking sound coming from the bottom end. It sounds as if a rod cap is broken or loose. It is definatly not coming from the head. This happened while cruising on the highway at 80mph in 6th gear. It started as a faint noise, and then turned into a real bad clanker.

The funny thing is, after all of the check engine lights I have had for stupid stuff, there is no light for this ridiculous failure.
