| Message: | | I am posting this as the beginning of a chronicle regarding my situation. By way of introduction, I was the first person on this board to report the PDC option had been added to SMG cars. I hope that aids my credibility.
On Thursday, April 18th at 6:30pm, while shifting from first to second via SMG, my engine blew. Called BMW Roadside assistance and had car brought to Momentum BMW (Houston). Early next afternoon, the service representative informed me of a 'catastrophic engine failure'. He said my engine had four holes in it. I did not ask him to elaborate. He told me that my black box would be sent to BMW NA so that they could determine if it was due to over-revving or mechanical failure. Word on this should arrive by Wednesday (tomorrow).
I will post BMW's resolution of this issue as well as their diagnosis of the problem. I plan to report the diagnosis and conclusion as objectively as I can. I will endeavor to ask all the pertinent questions regarding the engine failure so that we may shed some light on this dilemna. Will keep you posted...
