| Message: | I talked briefly to one of the mechanics at my dealer today and he told me some interesting things about the engine failures... They have found that three of the four cars have more or less the same fault, a broken crankshaft bearing at cylinder number three!? So, if there is a issue with the oil circulation to the crankshaft bearings and you are running low on oil, this is what happens! So let us look at the known facts we have: 1. BMW changes the oil to 10W-60 2. BMW changes the procedure to check oil level 3. BMW have made at least two changes of the crankshaft (See pics below of the crankshaft with part numbers and dates.) So my conclusion is that there must be a known production problem they are trying to solve! Just my 2 euros! :-) /RS2 | ||||
