How the recorder telltale works (3887 views) (13741 thread views)
Message: Guys,

With all these engines blowing up, I think you need to know HOW
the revlimit telltale works.. three main things are recorded

1) Max Vehicle Speed in km/h

2) Max Engine RPM in rpms

3) Max TIME the engine has spent OVER 7800 RPMS

It seems as if the TNMAX variable is being misrepresented by
a few people out there as the time in seconds that the engine
was at the absolute max RPMS.. and that is BS!

Please pass this around to the brothers who are having problems.

Oh, and if anyone tries to argue this, here's the SOURCE CODE

seg000:00019C5A move.w (N_IST).l,d0
seg000:00019C60 cmp.w ($49D2A).l,d0
seg000:00019C66 bls.s loc_0_19C86
seg000:00019C68 move.b (ENGINE_STATUS).l,d0
seg000:00019C6E andi.b #$1C,d0
seg000:00019C72 beq.s loc_0_19C86
seg000:00019C74 moveq #$64,d0 ; 'd'
seg000:00019C76 add.l d0,(T_NMAX).l

At $49D2A is $1E78 which is 7800 rpms

(at least in software 7832874)

Oh, and for the record while I'll bet some of the people with blown
motors have indeed overreved, I'm also betting ALL of them haven't.

Something doesn't smell right to me
