| Message: | I have been a very loyal BMW owner for mnay years, as I have owned 2 MZ3's and a 2001 M5 in the past 4 years. I just bought this ///M3 3 months ago and it still smells like new. I worked my butt of to get this car, and now the engine needs replacement. Should I reallly be thankful because they are replacing it? Here are the resons i came up with: -Major incovienience of being without my car for a month -The fact that I will always be thinking whether the engine was installed as well as they did in the factory in Germany -The worry that it may happen again (beleive me i never worried about this kind of stuff until this happened to me) -The devlautaion of my car due to the fact that an engine was replaced this early in its life, outside the factory (confirmed by 3 dealers when i tried selling my ///M3 after the engine replacement. Trackable by VIN# roughly $4000 additional depreciation) All these may seem like minor things to those who have not expereinced this, but I tell you it is a sh*tty feeling getting a $58000 dollar car and having this happen after 3 months. I understand that BMW is trying to stand behind thier products by offering me a new engine, but I think I won't be fully satisfied until I get a brand new car. I hope this post can help those of you who are lucky enough not to go through what Bassam and I are going through, and to understand our frustration as a fellow ///M owner. I hope that BMW will make the right decision, and prevent this from happening to other M3 owners. I am not trying to scare anyone from buying an M3 since i would buy this car all over again. I love the car, its just a pity there has been so many problems. I would not even be posting this if it was a differential or a clutch or the speakers not working, but this is the ENGINE we are talking about here. My best advice to future M3 owners is get ///M3 engine insurance and get SMG if you know what i mean ;) If it were not for my SMG i would probably be paying the bill for a new engine. ($16,000 i heard. OUCH!!) Thank for listening. Good luck to you all. 2002 ///M3 with SMG | ||||
