| Message: | | My car spun a rod bearing at 6,200 miles and had a new short block installed. While it's been just fine since then, I just don't feel the same about the car anymore. It's not rational. It's emotional, probably due to a character flaw or bad experiences (Your Cheatin' Heart?). But it's real and it's easier to get a new car than do years of therapy that might or might not make me a better more forgiving person.
And, truth be told, the unfaithfulness hasn't all been on the M3's side. When I picked up my M3 at the Performance Center, they had just received their first batch of MINIs. I've been thinking of the MINI Cooper S ever since, even while enjoying my M3 (Your Cheatin' Heart?).
Forget CarFax, there's no way I would offer my car for sale without being candid about its history, and the fact of an early major repair DEFINITELY affected the offers I had.
So I'm going to fool around with a MINI while BMW sorts out the E46. If it settles down, I'll probably get a new one next year.
As they say, "You can always tell the pioneers by the arrows in their backs."
