Hello Jason,
I first wanted to say thank you again for all of the help you have given to all of us M3 owners by posting all of the information that you have found online. However the real reason that I am writing to you is because my dealership Claridges Ltd. BMW here in Fremont called me up just before the 4th of July to inform me that BMW NA had called and told him that they would be giving me a total refund for the money that I paid to have a new engine put in the car. If you recall, I am number 13 on your list of blown engines. When my motor first blew, I was told that BMW were not going to pay for any of it. I honestly didn't much care for this and after some discussion between BMW NA and the dealership, the BMW NA decided that they would warranty 60% of the total cost of the motor leaving me with about 10,000 to pay. To this I agreed in the meantime because I needed the car back. However after BMW NA began posting on the message boards attempting to reassure that BMW would take care of all of this, I decided to call a lawyer to write them a letter. Even before I could do this however, BMW called the dealership and told them to refund me all of my money which they did shortly thereafter. If you have any questions please feel free to email me.
