Before the knee-jerk reaction, do take the car back to the dealer. I know someone with a gray interior E36M3 and his armrest and seat bolsters went to hell. The wear was pretty much like yours...were the skin comes into contact with the leather. Of course, I just tease him that he has some weird acid sweat...maybe you do too. At any rate, my friend was able to get a new armrest after showing them the damaged armrest.
