Message: I had the same problem as you are experiencing with my 01 M3 6 sp. The dealer diagnosed my problem as a mass air flow sensor. The details of my receipt read "CAT PROTECTION FUNCTION. CHECKED ADDITVE VALUES AND THEY WERE NEGATIVE. MULTIPLICATIVE VALUES WERE MAXED OUT AT 25%. ORDERED MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR. REPLACED MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR."
