| Message: | As you know a week or two ago my SMG system failed and left me stranded just two blocks from the BMW Dealer (I had just made an appointment to drop the car due to the SMG light coming on!). I got my car back 4-5 days later (over a weekend, unfortunately as they were waiting for parts) and everything worked for about 4 days. So I picked up the car on Monday, and on Friday (this last Friday 1/23) my SMG light came on again. Once more, drove to dealer, showed them the problem, but this time they agreed to take the car right away (instead of waiting to be stranded again!) and gave me a rental (last one was a piece of crap Volvo S40, this time a Ford Taurus). One thing to note is that the SMG pump was making a noise even with the car off and even with the key out of the car - something was like stucked "ON". That was Friday. I got a call mid day yesterday (Monday) that my car is ready. It was a relay associated with the SMG system!. So, I got my car, and so far (less than a day) it seems back to normal. Weird about the relay, hah? Did they forgot to change the relay, or was it about to failed and they missed it before? I absolutely LOVE my car, specially after driving the Taurus over the weekend - night and day diference! William Richardson, Texas 2002 M3 Coupe - Alpine White/Black Leather/SMG/Custom Stereo | ||||
