| Message: | | Differentials and clutches are present in all M3s, and they do seem to fail or wear out more quickly than "usual." They will carry higher than average repair costs becuase of the M designation. All true.
Nevertheless, the components of my argument are: 1. There are additional parts in the SMG manual tranny that must work in all must be calibrated properly and working properly in order to start the car, let alone shift correctly and smoothly; 2. These pieces are costly in themselves; 3. Everything, over time, fails. Pieces that are "high tech" tend to fail more often than their plebean counterparts.
M-Cars (all of them) are always in the "high cost of maintenance" category among used performance cars...I think SMG will be a hot topic among those buyers, when they are paying these bills instead of BMW.
