2005 M3 or wait for next model? - BMW M3 (E46 M3) Message Board & Forum

Dealer told me it was basically too late to order a new 2004 M3, that I'd be better off waiting till September and order a 2005 model. On the other hand, one of the European BMW enthusiast sites published specs for what is supposedly a 2006 model M3; no doubt you've seen it; 4.0L V8, 400 HP, etc.
Question is, wait 3 months or hold out a year and 3 months for next iteration before buying?
