| Message: | | I've seen that page before, but in going back over it, things were much more clear this time. Thanks! One question ... is this retrofit always a DIY, or have dealerships been willing to do the installs for this kit?
I know this system is a current factory option for European M3's, but was told that it was not offered (as OEM) for U.S. models. One final question/observation is that, Bluetooth being Bluetooth, it shouldn't matter whether you are pairing to a cell phone either at home or abroad, as long as the phone is compatible with local providers ... uh, right?
The final step, not shown in this DIY page, is that one can install a dedicated phone cradle in place of the cupholder unit for a very nice finished look which also allows your cell phone to benefit from an external antenna connection and an onboard power source. The only catch is that you need to have one of the three or four phones BMW makes cradles for. My Sony-Ericsson 610/630 series phone is among those listed, but I'm in Germany (US military), so your situation may be different.
