Alright Guys! last week I installed the Bluetooth Kit on my 03 M3 (Production
date 06/03). In case you haven't heard yet, BMW is still insisting that Bluetooth in not
available on all E46 coupes including our M3's due to a problem with voice
speaker system being too loud. I heard about some people installing the BT euro
version on their M3's and others installing the US version and none experienced
any problems. Some complained that the "BMW Lady" voice is a little bit loud
but that problem existed even on the CPT8000 phone system. So I went ahead
and ordered the BT kit from Circle BMW (www.circlebmw.com), Here's what you
need:
ULF Bluetooth Module |
84 21 6 934 552 |
$345.00 |
ULF Installation Kit |
84 11 0 302 639 |
$135.00 |
My car did not need the SES jumper plug but If your car is older build than
mine you might want to order it also:
SES Jumper Plug |
84 11 0 018 038 |
$8.00 |
Ok! so let's cut to the good stuff, I got the kit with all the components and
everything looked pretty simple and straightforward. The install took about 2
hours! half of it spend trying to cut a perfect hole for the pairing button
(Which did not come out perfect BTW).
The installation guide that came with the kit is not that great so I used an
excellent DIY written by Adam Hicks (good job man!).

The only installation differences between my M3 and Adam's 330I was that my
Pin 7 & 8 were already removed from the factory (Less work for me). Note:
some older build M3's might require the removal of Pin 7 & 8.
Here's a Pic of the telephone option in my Navigation Menu:

Now for the review, I really love this thing! Works great with absolutely no
problems. Yes the "BMW Lady" was a little bit loud initially but by turning down
the Navigation volume in the settings menu I was able to quiet here down. My Voice
Control module has a 'Volume Down" option but that does not seem to be working.
I have both the Ericsson T616 and the T68I and both synchronized
with no problems. The BT kit also gives you the voice control module which
allows you to do voice dialing, gives you a notepad option (Voice recorder with
5 min Max) and gives you some GPS system voice commands.
