| Message: | | I have a question with my 1985 6 series and I hope I'm in the right place.
I'm having a hard time getting my engine to idle when it first starts up. Once I have held the rpm at about 1000 for a few minutes it will idle. In the past, it never had a real smooth idle, but it was consistant. Last week, it just started rough so I tuned it up a bit. New plugs, cap, rotor etc. This did lots for it's highway driving, but now it dies very time I start it. If I feather the accelerator for a few minutes at about 1000rpm it will run well at speed and idle as it did in the past. I don't know if it needs injectors or what, but it is a pain. I'm wondering if the temperature control valve is bad or what. Any ideas out there. It gets great mileage and doesn't use or leak any oil. The odometer reads 150,000. Thanks for the help, I need it.
