Message: Does the fault description in the center screen give any indication as to what the fault may be?
It isn't always accurate but you could check and see what it says.
I have not used any aftermarket readers, personally I wouldn't trust any of them, but that is me. It is possible you have some other fault not related to the seat matt that the reader cant pick up.
Is the light on all the time?
Do you have the part number of the mat you used to fix your car?
