That may be a seat buckle then, not a mat.
Since you did the mat (Did you remove the seat?) make sure the tensioner on the seat belt is plugged in properly, if not then get it in tight then have someone clear the code again.
The connector may be yellow in color and it has a release tab on the top of it that you lift to release the lock for the connector.
If this got damaged then you may have an issue with the electrical bridge in the connector making contact which will also cause the light to come one.
Does your code readers give you any kind description of the problem?
Resistance too high or too low for instance.
