| Message: | | No history of starting problems before just-completed maintenance and repair. I replaced the transmission (sudden internal part failure, likely ring gear from sound/feel) and fuel tank, I fixed a valley pan gasket coolant leak, and replaced spark plugs, valve cover gaskets, rear crankshaft seal, fuel-oil-air-cabin filters, changed oil and differential lube. The car was not started for about a month.
I put 12v to fuel pump: it pumped air out through return line, then a steady stream of fuel (about 8 gallons in tank). Battery is less than a year old and is fully charged and tested. Engine cranks normally, but no hint of starting. I removed front, driver-side spark plug: no smell of gas nor wetness, no spark when plug attached to coil and grounded. Pop, but no real run-time on healthy ether shot. No codes showing up on OBD reader, but I don't know if they are logged during cranking. No blown fuses found.
I have BMW TIS CD, but cannot find a troubleshooting sequence to get me through this (nor on AllData at the library). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
