Where are all the female Z4 drivers? I think part of the answer lies in statistics.
If we're going to consider the sample of people on this and other Z4 message boards, the majority of folks are male. This might lead you to believe there's a high percentage of male Z4 drivers. However, the sample of folks here doesn't represent the overall makeup of Z4 drivers. To be actively involved in online communities usually means you're an enthusiast--and the ratio of number of enthusiasts to number of cars sold overall is low, even for Z4's. Of that small percentage of enthusiasts, an even smaller percentage is female. So it's not at all surprising that the number of females posting to this and other boards is low.
As for people who have made anecdotal observations of the number of female drivers on the road, I think geography has to be considered. Women are more likely to drive convertibles in sunbelt/coastal areas. Living in south Florida, I see a high number of Z4's on the road relative to other pars of the country--no surprise, given the climate and the areas of high socioeconomic status that abound here. It's not at all unusual for me to see 2 or 3 Z4's on my commute into the office, and the same number on the commute home. Out of every 10, I would guesstimate that 7 are driven by women, which is fairly commensurate with the sales figures.
So we're definitely out there...and there's nothing wrong with driving a chick car, guys! *lol*
