Message: Increased the boost by 180% but decreased the compression by 12%. I could easily pick another example of compression vs boost that would show the contrary results.

All other things being equal, you'll make you desired HP with lower boost with higher compression pistons than with lower compression pistons. The things that are not equal is that as boost increases, you get increased heating of the intake charge. This both reduces the density of the charge (less oxygen) and decreases the effective octane of your fuel (meaning you need to retard the spark more to eliminate pre-ignition effects).

For a practical example, look at the modern turbo'd rice rockets, they will run compression rations of 12:1 +. If you bottom end is sound, leave it alone and concentrate your energy on cooling the intake charge.

A copy of Corkey Bell's book, Maximum Boost is required reading.
