| Message: | I don't have anything against AMD. When Apple was choosing its new 64 bit processor, I was kind of hoping they'd make a break from Big Blue and go with AMD. There was a lot of speculation about it at the time. Now IBM is struggling to get the G5 up to the speed they had hoped by summer. I prefer OS X to Windows XP, and although I do video editing for a living I don't need the fastest processors out there. If I had a 3D render farm going it would be a different story. I use Avid on a Mac even though Avids run a little snappier on Windows (that Intel deal with Avid guarantees that) because I also use many other apps (like DVD Studio Pro) that make my productivity greater on a Mac than if I switched to Windows. Likewise, Final Cut Pro runs rings around Avid software in terms of interface snappiness because it's optimized for OS X, but I prefer the Avid workflow so I stick with it. And I haven't had a crash or disruption of my work in about 9 months. I just ordered FCP, so I'll play around with it and get used to it, as it may become the standard. 10/01 Jet Black SMG coupe, New Jersey, exit 50B | ||||
