| Message: | Good day all... Lets see... Pulled valve cover... ![]() You can see the tensioner... It is actually apart of the top front chain cover and accessible through the exterior of the motor, but I think the compressor is in the way, and you stand a chance of droping parts into the motor as you pull it from the cover. ![]() ![]() ![]() I locked the screwdriver in there to keep the tension on the chain as I pulled the cover and tensioner. The tensioner was extremely easy to push in. ![]() I zip-tied it as soon as I got the cover off! Then swapped the screwdriver out with a more secure metal rod (didn't get that pic). ![]() Here is the cover... ![]() and the tensioner apart... ![]() and again, totally removed... ![]() The new and old... Note the spring on top with the new tensioner is of a different design and longer, but made of thinner wire... ![]() The old gasket... no rubber properties left.. the old one is standing up over the new rubber one... ![]() I also left the CamPS in place... No need to remove it... ![]() After I got home, the noise made my skin crawl!! It was as close to a rod knock as you can get, and not be a rod knock... there seems to be little to no hydraulic pressure in the tensioner... I think I am going to find a stiffer spring to install in the old tensioner and go that route for now... It made less noise than the new one... Ugh!! I needed this fixed for this weekends trip to Florida... Oh well!! Thanks again all!! Cheers!! | ||||
