top end of engine very ticky in the AM. (155 views) (624 thread views) 
Message: question guys.

seems only recently, my 2.8 coupe at about 100k makes a loud "ticking" sound in the morning. the sound goes away after the car is warmed up. comes from the top end of the engine. Its not cold here in FL, I use 5w-30 bmw oil every 3-5k, fuel filter was also recently changed after a very long interval. I've had misfire codes in the passed but not recently.

sparks plugs are due for a change.

is this valve or injector noise ? is it normal? could this be a sign that something could be failing or wearing out? do I have dirty injectors from my long overdue fuel filter?

suggestions?
