| Message: | Personnel issues and the like are not fungible commodities. A boycott might convince a company to change a policy, because they can't go elsewhere to find customers. But a boycott won't change prices at the pump (as you acknowledged didn't happen) because the oil company just sells the fungible commodity to another outlet (a different gas station) and things progress. Commodities and company policies are entirely different animals. As for the name-calling and silliness, I apologize. But if you go back, you will see that my first post was simply an observation that this wouldn't work and a link to a source confirming that. No name calling, no silliness. Dane's response likened me (and anyone who didn't follow him blindly) to a sheep. And yet in my reply I didn't take the bait. I again just explained why the boycott would be ineffective (and might actually do some harm.) Dane's response to that included repeatedly belittling my professional abilities, calling my response "pedantic," and declaring that I was part of the problem rather than the solution. It was only after his name-calling and silliness that I fired back. Maybe I should have risen above it, but when he stooped to that simply because I didn't buy into his silly proposal, it ticked me off. And even then, I responded to the argument and just told him where to put his professional criticisms. His response to THAT post was certainly an impressive display of silliness and name-calling. I guess it doesn't really matter, but in my defense, Dane was the escalating factor here. Sh1t, maybe I should just go wax my car too!
