| Message: | The speed limit on I-5 is 70 MPH. If it was lowered to 55MPH, I'd use presumably 2.19 gallons of gasoline (@32 MPG). to go 70 miles on iy, vs. 2.59 gallons at the now posted speed limit of (@27MPG). Thus per the CNN poll, I'd save about 15 cents (0.38*0.405gal). However it would cost me 16.4 minutes more to drive that 70 miles; thus I would be "paying" myself $0.56 cents/hour - this is 8% of the Federal Minimum Wage that will be in effect July 1, 2008. | ||||
