| Message: | The new Z3 came with all 4 BF Goodrich. I've been noticing the common out of balance vibration between 50mph and 80mph so I went ti Firestone to get the ballanced. After they lift up the car the called me and said "we have a problem"... Basically the vibration was caused by the thread on he front two tires separating from the rest of the tire. And this with still about 1/2 of the thread left. I've always had very bad experience with BF Goodrich. It was also the tires I had on the 1.9 when I bought it and they were doing all sort of things including getting out of balance every 5K miles. Since I was at Firestone I couldn't get Michelin end up getting Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport. They are very quiet tires, no vibration and to tramlining. The only thing I noticed is that when the tires got balanced they required some of the bigger weights. My experience with Michelin is that they normally (if properly mounted) require little to no wight and I take that as a very precise and round tire. At the end of the day I went in with the intent of spending 40 bucks to get the tire balanced and came out with $670 worth of tires... Not to happy about it, but at least I cought it on time... Bottom line: with tires you get what you pay for... --------------------------------- ![]() 1998 Z3 1.9 - few modifications here and there 1999 Z3 2.8 - individual edition (British Traditional) 2003 Z4 2.5i | ||||
