Re: Top Replacement (206 views)
Message: Well, I really can't comment on the aftermarkets tops as I went for a BMW original for my 1998 1.9. I had the job done at a local shop that came highly recommended. Full price was $2,400 and the end result is I feel like I have a new car.

Good luck with whatever you decide. The window seal / trim coming off, plus the crease and scratches in my old window (original top that came with the car) are what led me to go for a new one.

There have been several threads on this board in the past about the trim coming out. It seems some can work magic and put it all back in place to stay while others do what I did and just say 'time for a new top'.

Again, whatever you decide I hope the end result makes you happy. I didn't like spending as much as I did, but the car looks great now!
