Yes, the 4 clips could be the cause, or... (45 views) 
Message: ...it could be the 4 bolts holding the glass tilting mechanism to the mirror frame or the 4 bolts holding the mirror covers together and attached to the mirror frame...



You can see here how the front and back cover of the mirror are 2 pieces (part #8 and #9). The 4 bolts can get loose and not hold the two covers together and attached to the mirror frame. You can't see the frame from these diagrams since it's not sold separately...

The tilting mechanism as well (part #7) can come loose and make noise.
