I used a bean bag in a pinch (145 views) 
Message: When I got my car, I didn't have the stand yet. But I did have a bean bag (chair). So I put the top, upside-down, on a comforter/blanket on top of the beanbag. Sounds a bit unorthodox, but worked like a charm. The load was spread out over the entire top surface.

Mind you, I make no warranties about suitability of this approach; I only attest to my own experience.
