I hope someone out there can HELP me with this problem. My 76 530i runs relatively well. It starts fine a idles nicely for about 20 minutes or so. However, when I am driving in stop and go traffic, the idle rpm's gradually decrease until they are at about 200-300 rpm. Each time I slow down or come to a stop, the rpm's decrease a bit more. I can keep the rpm's idling at around 1000 if I keep my foot on the gas pedal and manually control them. However if I take my foot off the gas they drop down again. The car pulls away fine and reaches highway speeds with no problem. It just seems to have a problem when I come to a stop. So far I have had the valves adjusted, new points and condenser, new fuel filter, injection system cleaned and new plugs. Nothing seems to help. Could it be the fuel pump???
