Sorry, I couldn't resist. You might want to try posting on the E-39 board, which covers 1997 and newer 5 Series.

I'm in the process of acquiring a used 5-series, 1996 or newer. Can anyone suggest any particular models to avoid? Any you'd recommend? I'd appreciate any help.
